Spring into Wellness with University of Pittsburgh Students

During the month of March, YOGAMOTIF and the Stress Free Zone partner to offer a Spring Into Wellness experience with yoga, meditation, and reflective practices for University of Pittsburgh students and the Pittsburgh community. Weekly classes occur at the Stress Free Zone free to University of Pittsburgh students. YOGAMOTIF’s virtual studio debuts a mix of on-demand creative wellness experiences bundled into a 31 Days of Creative Wellness routine for the Greater Pittsburgh community. Weekly newsletters share yoga and wellness tips to inspire your practice.

As March 24th marks the five-year anniversary of YOGAMOTIF, a line-up of trauma-conscious wellness guides aim to offer a variety of experiences to honor this milestone. Classes occur on Wednesdays in March at the Stress Free Zone, with the exception of spring break (March 8th).

  • March 8: Meditation Forward w/ Jacquelin Walker @ 12p (virtual)

  • March 15: Self-Guided Massage for Body Fatigue w/ Iva Lesh @6p

  • March 22: Hatha Yoga w/ Heather Manning @ 6p

  • March 29: Gentle Yoga w/ Carrie McCann @6p

Spring into Wellness is a funded project through the University of Pittsburgh’s Office of the Provost and its 2022-23 theme, the Year of Emotional Well-Being. This three-part Spring into Wellness project includes in-person classes, a 31-Days of Creative Wellness virtual routine, and a weekly inspirational newsletter.

Provost Ann Cudd writes on the Office of the Provost website,

“The choice of this theme offers an opportunity to engage collectively with a focus on restoring and enhancing our emotional well-being. The pandemic certainly has underscored the importance of fully supporting the emotional welfare of students, faculty and staff as everyone navigates the new terrain. This is a time of burgeoning research and collective reflection on our emotional needs and the qualities that make for a good life. Undoubtedly, our Year Of topic will also yield learnings that better people's lives well beyond the boundaries of the University.”
